It has been modified from new and never used apart from to flash it and test it. 1 x LSI 9211-8i Card with pre fitted Noctua NF-A4x10 PWM Fan. 1 x Noctua NA-EC1 Extension Cable. 1 x Noctua NA-YC1 Y-Cable. 1 x Noctua NA-RC8 Low-Noise Adapter Cable. 1 x Noctua NA-JC2 OmniJoin Cable. 1 x standard low profile bracket. 1 x standard high profile bracket. PCI Express 2.0 x8 Interface. Add up to 8 x full 6Gb/s SATA/SAS drives with no bottleneck or up to 256 SATA/SAS devices over the 8 x 6Gb/s ports (2 x Mini-SAS connectors). Pre flashed to IT mode so can run ZFS, software RAID solutions, JBOD, windows storage spaces etc. Deletion of boot ROM significantly speeds up boot (card adds maybe a second compared to literally minutes). New cooling solution: card runs significantly cooler prolonging life, reducing errors and helping overall system thermals. Runs very quietly thanks to Noctua premium fan with PWM control. Cannot notice it over my case fan… Which I can barely notice! The original card is known to be one of the most reliable and popular cards for expanding your server’s storage. The problem for many desktop users is that there are not too many options out there for full fat SATA expansion. For those that wish to use ZFS, software raid solutions or just plain JBOD, one hurdle is that these cards by default come in IR (Integrated RAID) mode. Not everyone wants to risk bricking their card to flash it to IT mode. Additionally and perhaps most importantly, they also run very hot as they were primarily designed for use in rack servers. You can find many reports of 70°C and up!! This can result in less than optimal performance and even errors over time. With this cooling solution you can see in the picture I have got it to around 30°C in my system. This will obviously vary depending on your systems thermals but you get the idea. By not reinstalling the boot ROMs during the flashing procedure it now effectively acts as a pass-through and doesn’t add needless minutes (or indeed anything) to boot time. Of course, if you wanted to, you could reinstall these and/or re flash back to IR mode. I have been building and modding PCs for years and found this to be the best solution. I have two of these cards in my home gaming/media rig with zero issues. I also like the fact that in it’s current form I can swap it out should one ever become faulty without destroying my current array (never happened yet). As with all things “computer”, this will depend on your specific setup so please check beforehand. I can’t guarantee all things for all systems so please do your own checks! There is never a substitute for regular backups! It is however otherwise brand new! If you have any fundamental problems with the product I will be happy to try and help and would ask that you contact me before leaving feedback to resolve any issues. Again please reach out to me first. Therefore you will technically not be getting the one in the picture although I would struggle to tell the difference!
